StreamStation

If you can’t get the encoders to the content, bring the content to the encoders! Based at our HQ, we’ve a purpose built webcasting suite, which can take live or pre-record feeds and encode it there and then for immediate delivery to our content delivery networks.

Depending on your requirement we can arrange for satellite downlinks from a variety of suppliers, alternatively, should it look like it’s going to be a regular occurrence we’ll happily investigate the installation of more permanent ‘tie lines’. The hub of the facility is a computer controlled audio and visual matrix switch used to route incoming signals through the vision and audio mixing facilities and then to the encoders.

Audio facilities
StreamStation includes audio mixing (with extensive monitoring options) and telephone balancing units enable incoming telephone calls to be mixed in to the webcast whilst audio processing equipment ensures that your sound is as optimised for web delivery as physically possible.

Video facilities
Vision mixing is provided to offer ultimate flexibility to your webcast– should you wish to mix between multiple incoming satellite sources, play in clips from tape, or mix to computer generated content. Scan converters are on hand to allow for locally generated computer content to be easily included within the stream.

Video feeds from external sources can be accepted in composite, SDI and i394/DV formats with audio being accepted in analogue balanced or embedded AES digital.

Encoding from tape/ disk
StreamStation can accept material in all of the most common formats, including DigiBeta, Beta SP, DVCAM, MiniDV, DVD, VHS, CD and DAT – arrangements can be quickly made to accept other formats if required.

StreamStation comprises a minimum of six individual encoders and can provide simultaneous Windows, Real and QuickTime content delivery. Network connectivity is by leased lines across our resilient network and we are able to deliver by our own content delivery network or by our global infrastructure depending on the expected traffic your webcast will experience.
