The Pierhead Sessions

pierhead_lanyardMultiStream, were commissioned to film the Pierhead Sessions in Cardiff Bay - providing content for YouTube and the National Assembly for Wales web site.

The Pierhead Sessions (March 4-6 2010) provided a platform for discussion and debate, and feature prominent figures such as environmental campaigner and writer, George Monbiot, and a slot featuring the makers of the perennially popular TV series, Dr. Who.

MultiStream were contracted to provide live video footage during the sessions. The Pierhead building has been equipped with state of the art AV equipment including six large projector walls screens that can deliver individual video and graphic feeds.

A live vision mix with a three camera shoot was provided for all of the sessions. The video feed from the live vision mix was then projected on the three screens spanning the width of the building behind the stage. MultiStream worked seamlessly with Piccadilly Broadcast Hire who provided the camera Operators and equipment and staging for the sessions.

The Pierhead Sessions were produced by The Festivals Company, and form part of the 10-year anniversary celebration of devopierhead_vision mixerlution.

"The sessions featured an eclectic mix of speakers and events and were designed to attract a cross-section of the population," explains Berwyn Rowlands, director of The Festivals Company. "The event reflects the maturity of the National Assembly as an institution, and will become an annual event."

"Due to the sessions’ popularity we have commissioned MultiStream to provide an online service so that people who don’t manage to get tickets can access the sessions."

Ruth Thomas from MultiStream, adds."MultiStream provides a unique combination of broadcast and information technology experts – a delicate balance of the two different disciplines that are needed to deliver high quality content."

"Many of the Pierhead Sessions were sold out, but now these thought-provoking events will reach people throughout Wales and beyond."
